Right from the opening shot, which is Sonam's entry itself... everything about Aisha is so "GOOD LOOKING".Aisha is a visual treat what with all the actors at their glamorous best.Every shot so Colorful and Classy that you just cant take your eyes off no matter how sweet or silly the scenes may be. Yes that Aisha for you...Mostly "Sweet" and occasionally "Silly" .
Inspite of the fact that I cannot relate to any of the characters in Aisha(expect for Shefali to a certain extent who comes to a city from a small town.but hey i m not so dumb either;)).I m not from a Richie-Rich family,i dont spend my pappa's money carelessly,i dont wear designer clothes with deep necklines,i dont attend polo matches,i dont frequent parties day in and day out and unlike shefali i dont even have friends who do all these, but i could still relate to some situations that form the crux of the story like the troubled friendship between the girls and how they rebond.Infact my one of favorite scenes is between friends Aisha and Pinky(Ira Dubey). The one when Pinky confronts Aisha and then when Aisha apologizes to her. Another moment or rather moments are between Aisha and Arjun(Abhay Deol)..when they get jealous seeing the other with somebody else or when Arjun gets all protective about Aisha directly or indirectly. There are such moments with which everyone can relate to irrespective of their socio-economic backgrounds.
Casting is a major plus for Aisha. It adds to the freshness onscreen. All the actors did complete justice to their respective characters.Of all I loved Abhay Deol the most.He is very charming as Arjun. His screen presence is amazing. After having done some complicated roles in his earlier films(DevD,Manorama 6feet Under) this was a bit of a cake walk for him.Among the others i liked Arpitha Thakur as Shefali. She is very adorable as a innocent, dumb, confused girl. Its an amazing job for a new comer!
After I Hate Love Storys(IHLS) I had formed an opinion about Sonam Kapoor that she's beautiful and cute and all.. but she CANNOT act.So going into this movie my expectations from Sonam were almost nil.But must say I liked her as Aisha.I was pleasantly surprised.Between just two movies she has improved tremendously. So what if she appeared all plastic and artificial at times after all thats how Aisha's character is supposed to be and in that sense she was perfect for the role. Sonam looked stunning in every costume and carried even the weirdest of them with ease. But my one opinion about her that I carry forward after IHLS and Aisha is that she cannot cry onscreen for nuts. That's her weakest point i guess!! Of course Aisha is not without flaws. One of them being that the background of the characters and the reasons for their behavior(including Aisha) are not well established. They are left to the viewers' imagination. And that is the reason at times you find it silly and wonder why Aisha is behaving the way she is.
Another strong point is the Music composed by Amit Trivedi. Every song and its picturization is New and Fresh.Personally i liked "Sham" and "Leherein" the most. The placement of songs is also very apt.Songs never seemed like speed breakers as the story moves along with them.
All in all I liked Aisha!!Its an enjoyable watch. Its Simple,Sweet,Fun and I like things when they are Simple.I thank the Director RajShreeOjha for that. Come on.. who wants to see serious, dark stuff all the time. Its great to have some fun, light hearted stuff in between..isnt it? As one of the Captions on its posters itself says...
"Join the FUN"!!!
P.S: This may sound like a "Review".But its not...its just my "View".I somehow dont like the word review or reviewer attached to my blog and me.Why? its a long story..will tell some other time.
